Back to school season is a test every year for math help app Photomath, but in 2023, they had most of the answers in place: cool brand, cringe-core messaging, and a growing, devoted audience. They just needed a team to make their big idea play everywhere. So we jumped in and got to work - some of our staff were mathletes, after all.

Photomath is an industry leader in terms of math apps throughout much of North America and Europe. High awareness is a strength, but it means growth can sometimes be a challenge. However, the BTS campaign proved it was possible, delivering numbers that met and exceeded KPIs in terms of installs and user growth in both the US and UK.

Lo-fi for high impact

Photomath’s audience lives on TikTok, finding everything from inspiration to entertainment to community there. That’s why the platform urges brands, “Don’t make ads. Make TikToks.” We stayed on-trend and blended the brand’s humor with lofi, creator-vibe concepts to deliver several ads that felt native, including one that racked up more than 10k likes on the platform. The success led us to keep the lofi look going across YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels.
